Activate Directory ID
As a student, your Directory ID will be your designation for your email address as well as your username for accessing UMD systems across. To set up your Directory ID, please click here and follow the on-screen instructions campus.
Apply for i20/DS2019
If you are planning to attend UMD, please notify your attendance plans. Please click here and complete all the forms under “The I-20/DS-2019 Documentation" section for the issuance of i20/DS2019.
Visa Process
Upon receiving the I-20/DS2019 from UMD, you should schedule a visa interview with the US Embassy in your area at the earliest. You can find links to your consulate and find more detailed information about applying for your visa on our website.
Register for Orientations
As an incoming UMD student, there are several orientations that you should attend. Watch your inbox for orientation reminders from your school and/or admissions office.
For F1 Students
Being a F1 students, there are a few steps that need to be completed, such as below -

Completion of "F1 Intent" form

Completion of "Mandatory F-1 Immigration Videos"

Completion of "Online International Student Orientation"

Upon arriving US
Activation of your I-20 is needed to maintain your status as well as for successful onboarding to any campus employment and for the Social Security application.
The "Documents check" section allows you to upload the immigration paperwork to activate your I-20/DS-2019 post verification by an ISSS advisor. It must be completed after you arrive in the US.
